We have been told that the same social condition that was in Sodom and Gomorrah just before it reached its limit as a nation and was destroyed would be same conditions of the nations of the world just prior to the second coming of Jesus. Luke 17:28-30 , Gen 19:1-7, Ecc. 1:9. Our generation will reach the limit.

 “The flames that consumed the cities of the plain shed their warning light down even to our time. We are taught the fearful and solemn lesson that while God’s mercy bears long with the transgressor, there is a limit beyond which men may not go on in sin. When that limit is reached, then the offers of mercy are withdrawn, and the ministration of judgment begins.”  {PP 162.3}

If we look at current world conditions, we see the handwriting on the wall declaring that we are nearing this time today. The sad reality is that this condition will not only be in the world, but that it would even enter the Remnant Church just before the limit is reached and the national sunday law is passed. We are told in the pen of inspiration that because our church would begin mingling and uniting with the world, we would soon begin to think very much like the world and thus become like the world.

“By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they have come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. ” {GC 608.2}

   This means that if homosexuality becomes acceptable and popular in the world, then it would soon become acceptable and popular in the church, for both will “view matters in nearly the same light”. This is where we are today! Homosexuality has become popular in almost every spectrum of life (entertainment, sports, business, newscasters, government etc). This means that we are nearing the limit of the history, both of our nation and denomination and that probation is soon to close. If you truly study history, both secular or religious you will find that the predominant social condition before a nation reaches its limits is homosexuality.

One of the most shocking fulfillments of prophecy took place just a few weeks ago when a chaplain (of one of our sda institutions) preached a sermon at one of our major sda universities which was entitled “Adam and Steve”! The Chaplain  (Jonathan Henderson) may be ever so sincere and is a soul whom God loves but nonetheless is deeply deceived. Let us pray for Him and ourselves because this reveals that a severe crisis is before us that we can only make it through if we have a deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ (John 15:5).

  In the message he stated (in essence), that God would and had accepted homosexuality and so should we! And it was hailed by many as one of the best sermons ever preached from PUC’s pulpit (there has been much backlash now and the sermon was even removed from the schools website but the damage has been done)! A scary but true exercise would be to take the sermon and replace the concept of homosexuality with sunday worship and you will see where we are headed (for marriage and Sabbath are twin institutions). This type of step by step compromise with worldly demands will lead to the acceptance of the mark of the beast.

“The time is not far distant when the test will come to every soul. The mark of the beast will be urged upon us. Those who have step by step yielded to worldly demands and conformed to worldly customs will not find it a hard matter to yield to the powers that be, rather than subject themselves to derision, insult, threatened imprisonment, and death. The contest is between the commandments of God and the commandments of men. In this time the gold will be separated from the dross in the church. True godliness will be clearly distinguished from the appearance and tinsel of it. Many a star that we have admired for its brilliancy will then go out in darkness. Chaff like a cloud will be borne away on the wind, even from places where we see only floors of rich wheat. All who assume the ornaments of the sanctuary, but are not clothed with Christ’s righteousness, will appear in the shame of their own nakedness. {5T 81.1}

   We are even told that men of talent and pleasing address (those with the ability to speak eloquently) who have compromised, will become the most bitterest enemy after the passing of the national sunday law to attack the people of God. We are nearing this time today!

“As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel’s message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition. By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they have come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren. When Sabbathkeepers are brought before the courts to answer for their faith, these apostates are the most efficient agents of Satan to misrepresent and accuse them, and by false reports and insinuations to stir up the rulers against them.” {GC 608.2}
