This announcement came after it was initially estimated that the move would take “years”; and just a little over a month from a previous announcement, in which the U.S. vice president, Mike Pence (an evangelical Christian), said that the Embassy opening would happen at the end of the year 2019.
What would be the reason for such a hasty decision? A decision that, as was brought out at the United Nations by the U.S. Ambassador (Haley), “will not change”… The reason, dear friends, is because prophecy is fast fulfilling:
The agencies of evil are combining their forces, and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones. {9T 11}
In the days before Christ first came to this world –because of the prideful desires of the Jewish leaders, and a misguided hope of the people of the nation– they misinterpreted the ancient prophecies of the coming Messiah. From the words of inspiration, we read:
“Hatred of the Romans, and national and spiritual pride, led the Jews still to adhere rigorously to their forms of worship. The priests tried to maintain a reputation for sanctity by scrupulous attention to the ceremonies of religion. The people, in their darkness and oppression, and the rulers, thirsting for power, longed for the coming of One who would vanquish their enemies and restore the kingdom to Israel. They had studied the prophecies, but without spiritual insight. Thus they overlooked those scriptures that point to the humiliation of Christ’s first advent, and misapplied those that speak of the glory of His second coming. Pride obscured their vision. They interpreted prophecy in accordance with their selfish desires.” {DA 30.2}
Without a vision, the people perish; and without clear prophetic lenses, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we (modern-day Israel) would also follow in the same, darkened path. The devil is working feverishly, that history would be repeated in the experience of professed believers of Christ.
Satan is working that the history of the Jewish nation may be repeated in the experience of those who claim to believe present truth. The Jews had the Old Testament Scriptures, and supposed themselves conversant with them. But they made a woeful mistake. The prophecies that refer to the glorious second appearing of Christ in the clouds of heaven they regarded as referring to His first coming. Because He did not come according to their expectations, they turned away from Him. Satan knew just how to take these men in his net, and deceive and destroy them. . . . {2SM 111.1}
There is a direct connection between the misinterpretation of prophecy by the Jewish nation during the first coming of Christ, and the reason why evangelical Christians believe that Jerusalem (in 2018) is not about politics, but prophecy. All of these events play right into the hands of satan who, after the passing of the National Sunday Law, will deceive many (and if possible, the very elect), when he personates Christ just before Jesus’ soon return.
“The Jews misinterpreted and misapplied the word of God, and they knew not the time of their visitation. The years of the ministry of Christ and His apostles,–the precious last years of grace to the chosen people,–they spent in plotting the destruction of the Lord’s messengers. Earthly ambitions absorbed them, and the offer of the spiritual kingdom came to them in vain. So today the kingdom of this world absorbs men’s thoughts, and they take no note of the rapidly fulfilling prophecies and the tokens of the swift-coming kingdom of God… “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” While we are not to know the hour of our Lord’s return, we may know when it is near. “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6. {DA 235.2}
