The Agitated Economy

“A top Federal Reserve official is worried about a warning sign in the bond market.” Does one have any reason to be optimistic towards the national and world-wide economy? As the Federal Reserve makes plans to raise interest rates this week, many indeed have valid concerns.

The world, full of rioting, full of godless pleasure, is asleep, asleep in carnal security. Men are putting afar off the coming of the Lord.  They laugh at warnings. The proud boast is made, “All things continue as they were from the beginning.” “Tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.” 2 Peter 3:4; Isaiah 56:12. We will go deeper into pleasure loving. But Christ says, “Behold, I come as a thief.” Revelation 16:15. At the very time when the world is asking in scorn, “Where is the promise of His coming?” the signs are fulfilling. While they cry, “Peace and safety,” sudden destruction is coming. When the scorner, the rejecter of truth, has become presumptuous; when the routine of work in the various money-making lines is carried on without regard to principle; when the student is eagerly seeking knowledge of everything but his Bible, Christ comes as a thief… Everything in the world is in agitation…  {DA 635, 636}

Everything, including the national and world-wide economy… Order is Heaven’s first law; and when we understand that everything is governed by law and principle (including finances and economy), we will see exactly why a violation of law is the cause of all of the agitation and problems that exist in our world today. We are further told that there will be a great economic crisis, that will lead to a revolution and the religious persecution (NSL). We are watching the development of this crisis today!

In order to find the solution, in Christ, of life’s problems, and experience His better system of living –true peace, on this side of eternity– God must bring us back into harmony with His divine principles. To learn how to have this life of heaven on earth, we encourage you to order the “How to Live” series. “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (Luke 21:36).
