The Sunday law is almost here, What more do we need to see?
In a recent article Pope Benedict 16 said it was time for the world to return to Sunday worship. “It could not be you say”, well its true! If ever anyone wanted evidence of where we are and what is happening in our world it is here today. What more do we need to see. The catholic news itself reporting on one of the most recent messages of the pope reported that he said just a few days ago that , “The demands of work can’t bully people out of needed time off, Pope Benedict XVI said.Sunday must be a day of rest for everyone, so people can be free to be with their families and with God, the pope said. “By defending Sunday, one defends human freedom,” he said during his weekly general audience in St. Peter’s Square June 6. It was also reported from the catholic press that the pope went so far as to say, “he wanted to come to the defense of free time, which is “threatened by a kind ‘bullying’ by the demands of work.”
“Sunday is the day of the Lord and of man, a day which everyone must be able to be free — free for the family and free for God.”
I am reminded of those inspired words in Revelation 13:3 and also in the Spirit of Prophecy which says:
“All need wisdom carefully to search out the mystery of iniquity that figures so largely in the winding up of this earth’s history. . . . In the very time in which we live, the Lord has called His people and has given them a message to bear. He has called them to expose the wickedness of the man of sin (papacy) who has made the Sunday law a distinctive power, who has thought to change times and laws (Daniel 7:25), and to oppress the people of God who stand firmly to honor Him by keeping the only true Sabbath, the Sabbath of creation, as holy unto the Lord. {TM 117.5}
And again:
” Heretofore those who presented the truths of the third angel’s message have often been regarded as mere alarmists. Their predictions that religious intolerance would gain control in the United States, that church and state would unite to persecute those who keep the commandments of God, have been pronounced groundless and absurd. It has been confidently declared that this land could never become other than what it has been–the defender of religious freedom. But as the question of enforcing Sunday observance is widely agitated, the event so long doubted and disbelieved is seen to be approaching, and the third message will produce an effect which it could not have had before. {GC 605.3}
