The Ideal Vegetarian-Part 1

Greetings! Today, we are going to start a new segment entitled The Ideal Vegetarian Regimen.

There is an increasing number of people who wish to entirely discard the use of all animal products as foods. This course of action is wise for many reasons. One reason is because disease is rapidly increasing among animals, making not only their flesh unsafe, but also increasing the dangers of using the products of the animal kingdom.

“…disease in animals is increasing in proportion to the increase of wickedness among men”, which is in harmony with Holy Writ; and that because of it, “the time will soon come when there will be no safety in using eggs, milk, cream, or butter…” {CD 349} and that people should be taught how to prepare food without those things.

The pen of Inspiration also expressed the thought that the knowledge of natural foods, and their preparation without any animal products, will be to those who make use of them now in these days multiplying diseases, what the manna was to Israel in the wilderness; of which the Scriptures say He, “rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them the corn of heaven. Man did eat angel’s food….And there was not one feeble person among their tribes.” Ps. 78:24, 25; Ps. 105:37. It seems that the manna was a factor in the good health program, the same sort of a ministry today for those who are open to the fullness of light concerning healthful living, and have set their hearts on passing triumphantly through the closing days of earth’s history.

We will now briefly discuss some of the disadvantages of the following animal products below, as we seek to keep pace with the light on health reform.

Eggs:

  1. Acid-forming
  2. Adds to an excess of protein
  3. Quick to putrefy in the digestive tract
  4. Aids growth of germs
  5. Potential carrier of animal disease
  6. Source of allergy

Some people may think eggs to be beneficial because of their high protein, vitamins A, B1, riboflavin, nicotinic acid, vitamin, D, iron, phosphorus, and fat. However, it is better to secure these nutrients from their original sources.

Butter:

  1. High content of cholesterol
  2. Difficult to digest, hinders digestion of other foods
  3. Stimulating
  4. High bacteria count
  5. Potential carrier of animal diseases to man. Tuberculosis germs have been found in butter six months old.
  6. Source of allergy.

Cheese:

  1. Product of putrefaction
  2. High bacteria count
  3. Aids growth of germs
  4. Potential carrier of animal disease to man
  5. Difficult to digest
  6. Contributes to constipation
  7. Source of allergy

Milk:

  1. High bacteria count
  2. Aids growth of germs
  3. Potential carrier of animal disease
  4. Contributes to constipation
  5. Source of allergy

In the opinion of scientific nutritionist, the most difficult food to be spared from the list of animal products is milk. Each year that passes it is made, by some teachers, an increasingly important item in human nutrition. And  yet, in our former lessons, we have given plenty of scientific evidence that the milk of cows is not a necessity to humankind, and that better health is enjoyed from another way of living.

Milk & Constipation

There is a difference of opinion here, but there are so many workers of such wide clinical experience who hold that, especially with adults, it often causes fermentation, constipation and biliousness, that this tendency of milk can hardly be ignored.

Milk & Allergy

That milk is a common source of allergy will be denied by none. There are large numbers of children who have an aversion to milk. Authorities in London reported that with such children it caused nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, catarrh; others report abdominal pains, asthma, and eczema. Kellogg reported – “Another point to which attention should be called in the interest of both infants and invalids is the fact that certain persons become sensitized to milk as well as to other forms of proteins and in a person who is sensitized, even the smallest amount of milk may give rise to dangerous or even fatal symptoms. Many infants die annually from this cause.”

Calcium in Milk the Last Stand

In the opinions of some scientific nutritionist, it is easier to spare eggs, butter, cream, and cheese from the diet than to spare the milk; and that the greatest danger in removing milk from the diet is from a deficiency of calcium, especially with children and with expectant nursing mothers. Therefore, this is the most serious problem in connection with this group of foods.

AbundantGrab a friend and share the wealth, from what you’ve learned in the School of Health! In our next class, we shall undertake to show how an adequate supply of calcium can be secured, by young or old, without milk. God bless!
