Carob is a delicious substitute for cocoa in brownie recipes. Carob powder is naturally sweeter than cocoa powder and is a good source of calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, and selenium. Look for roasted carob powder in health food stores and large grocery stores.

Best brownies yet! I had to cut down the sugar, though. That’s the only change I made. I am going to make it for the 3rd time and cut the sugar in half.

    Delicious!

I made two batches of Carob Brownies twice in two weeks. They were so delicious. I tried the second batch using whole grain spelt flour for my hubby who is a diabetic and loves his deserts. I could not tell the difference in taste nor texture but my little ones said they could tell there was a slight difference but said they still tasted good. [My grandson] said he wants me to make carob brownies for his birthday. I felt so proud. Thinking about making another batch using Truvia as a sweetner or perhaps 1/2 Truvia and half Turbinado. Just trying to experiment to see how I can best help my hubby.

I just made this tonight and it was very good! I used spelt flour, coconut sugar and coconut oil as substitutes to a few ingredients. Very satisfying to the sweet tooth :) praise God! ( also only used1 and 1/2 cups of the sugar) Thank you !

Really tasty vegan brownies! I used vanilla almond milk instead of water and added a handful of raisins.

I had processed the carob powder from pods, so I added a little more since it wasn’t as fine.
