Our Bodies Are Not Our Own

touch health2016 is now here – the resolutions have been made! Unhealthy habits will no longer be practiced! This year, things are going to be different!!!

These are some of the many thoughts and sentiments of people everywhere, as they reflect over the past year. When the decision has been made to improve current lifestyle practices (whether physical, mental, social, or spiritual) does it take more than just a spoken resolution? Should we want to lose those extra pounds which “suddenly appeared out of no where”? Should exercise be incorporated into the life of someone who would be considered a “couch potato”? And, should things in our diet be eliminated, because -let’s face it- many are digging their graves with their own teeth… Well of course, the answer to all of these questions is yes: a definite change is needed! But, what makes today any different than yesterday?

For Christians (and particularly, Seventh-day Adventist), we should realize that it IS 2016. The fact that we are still here on this earth should mean something! “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). In order to be fitted for translation -as we watch for the coming of our Lord- we must understand that “our very bodies are not our own, to treat as we please, to cripple by habits that lead to decay, making it impossible to render to God perfect service”. With the little time that we have been granted (through the grace of our Saviour, Jesus Christ) let us guard our health just as sacredly as we do our characters! {Healthful Living, pgs. 11, 10}

During the month of January, we are having a combination special on The Missing Link (DVD series) and Healthful Living (Book) – click here. Learn more about health reform, and how it is directly related to the finishing work. As well, read and understand God’s plan for your healthful life, as outlined on the pages of inspiration. It is our prayer that in 2016 we may all will and do of His good pleasure! Maranatha!
